Reuse Project | Collecting Used Bags and Donating to Students (SDGs)

Passing Down Bags That Still Have Life to the Next Generation

FUMIKODA runs the “Reuse Project,” collecting gently used FUMIKODA bags and delivering them to students in need.

"I’d love a new bag, but the one I have is still in good shape. Storage space is limited, so it would be nice if someone else could use it." Inspired by these customer sentiments, the Reuse Project was born.

Background of the Reuse Project

FUMIKODA bags are crafted from FUMITEX™, a high-durability artificial leather commonly used in luxury car interiors. Lightweight, durable, and resistant to wear, FUMITEX™ ensures that our bags can be used for many years.

At the same time, poverty among students is a growing issue. According to a survey by the Japan Student Services Organization (2020), student living expenses have dropped by 5.3% since the last survey (2018), while income has decreased by 3.7%. The COVID-19 pandemic has intensified financial challenges, making it difficult for students to afford essential items like a bag for job interviews. Recognizing this, we chose students as recipients for the Reuse Project.

Many FUMIKODA bag owners are active business professionals. Customers donating their bags are invited to include a message to the student who will receive their bag, passing both encouragement and their bag to the next generation.

Through the Reuse Project, FUMIKODA contributes to Goal 12 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting responsible consumption and production through the practice of “reuse.”
