Luster and Transparency Beyond Plastic
These pieces, which might appear similar to tortoiseshell at first glance, are actually made from “cotton cellulose,” a vegan material derived from cotton and high-purity pulp. Using plant fibers as the main ingredient, cotton cellulose provides a sustainable alternative with a natural, luxurious finish.
Most resins commonly seen today are made from petroleum-based materials, allowing for inexpensive mass production but lacking warmth, individuality, and high-end appeal. In contrast, plant-based cotton cellulose offers unique expressions in every piece. Once polished by artisans, the cellulose develops a water-like sheen and crystal-clear transparency that plastic simply cannot replicate.
From Cotton to Cellulose
Cotton cellulose production process begins with cotton fibers
Since it’s made from plant-based, natural materials, cotton cellulose is gentle on the skin and less likely to cause allergies, making it both human- and environmentally friendly. Through our product designs, FUMIKODA remains dedicated to proposing a lifestyle that values quality without compromise, while supporting animal welfare and protecting our planet.
